01TheOne Slider Watch Pairs Traditional Hands With Funky Binary Timetelling

Can’t decide between getting an analog watch and one of those funky timepieces that make timetelling just a tad more challenging?  Now, you can get both with the 01TheOne Slider, a dual-faced watch that let you switch between the two with a simple swipe of the steel panel cover.

If you’re not familiar with 01TheOne, they’ve achieved moderate fame for their binary watches, which let you tell time using a binary rule set (you add up the lit numbers to tell the hours and minutes).  Well, they’ve taken the same slightly confounding timetelling aesthetic here, pairing it with a more traditional two-handed (silver tone with black indices for the hour markers) face that sits right next to it on the same case.

The Slider has a sliding steel panel that lets you cover up one of the two dials at a time.  That way, you can use the binary face when your brain is in full operative mode and switch to the simpler dial at the end of the workday when your gray matter is starched.

Case dimensions are 49 x 44 x 10 mm, so it’s a bit on the beefy side.  Entire frame is constructed from stainless steel, with a Japanese quartz mechanism running underneath.  Band is made from leather pig skin.

Even if you’ve got the binary part hidden, there’s no way you can pass this off with formal clothes, so it’s probably best for the night out than for the workplace.  The 01TheOne Slider is available from Amazon in black and stainless steel finishes with either blue or red LEDs, priced at $259.
