These 20:16 MoonWalker Sneakers Will Make You Feel Like You’re Walking In Space

We’re not entirely sure if it delivers anywhere near the sensation of walking on the moon (Buzz Aldrin’s Moon Boot definitely doesn’t), but the 20:16 MoonWalker sure is going to feel different. That’s because its soles are designed to create a floating sensation, making you feel like your feet are bouncing with every step you take.

Using a pair of N45 magnets strategically positioned to repel each other on the sole, the shoes give the wearer a gravity-defying sensation, without making you look as awkward as an astronaut trying to walk in space.   They describe it as “a force field that keeps you suspended in space,” which should make a simple walk to the local mini-mart feel like an entirely fresh experience.

The 20:16 MoonWalker is a pair of slip-on sneakers with a relatively normal design, so you can pair it with most any casual outfits in your closet. It does have a thicker than usual midsole, though, which was necessary in order to accommodate the two layers of magnets that create the bouncing sensation. Construction is denim with leather details for the upper, along with a DuPont Tyvek synthetic polyethylene lining. That magnet sits under a layer of memory foam, which should accommodate the exact shape and contours of your feet for a perfect fit, with a hard rubber outsole.

According to the creators, you can use the sneakers for running, although we imagine it’s not going to be very comfortable since the shoes are supposed to make you feel like you’re floating. Oh yeah, in order for the magnets to properly create the low-gravity sensation, you need to be under 286 pounds, so keep that in mind if you’re planning on picking up a pair.

An Indiegogo campaign is currently running for the 20:16 MoonWalker. Pledges to reserve a unit starts at $89.
