It looks like a modern digital radio with retro inspirations, but the Awair won’t be streaming Spotify, Dezeer, or Pandora any time soon. Instead, it’s a dedicated air quality monitor that takes precise readings of the quality of air you’re breathing, keeping you informed of environmental conditions that may be affecting your health.

Granted, it’s not exactly the kind of device most people probably need (or want, for that matter). For those dealing with allergy, sleep, and productivity problems, though, it might very well be the solution they’ve been needing all along. After all, air quality can have serious effect on all of those areas, making this quite the handy tool in such situations.

The Awair uses an array of sensors that measure temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, toxic chemicals, and fine dust to give you a clear picture of the quality of the air that you are currently breathing. It uses a proprietary technology called TrueSense to carry out a detailed analysis of sensor readings, which, the company claims, pave the way to high levels of accuracy and control.

A LED display on the front face can offer a real-time snapshot of the total air quality grade (0 to 100), with options for other modes, including time, so you can use it as a desk clock. For more detailed information, it comes with an accompanying app that lists the readings for each category, along with actionable advice and personalized recommendations based on your data.

Available now, the Awair is priced at $199.
