Babies Get Their Own Transforming Furniture With The 1,2,3 Soleil

soleil1

Them little ones, they grow up so fast, don’t they?  Before you know it, you’re trying to find a way to get rid of their old cradle.  Not very long after, you’re calling up friends to unload the crib.   The 1,2,3 Soleil puts an end to wasting perfectly good baby furniture, turning out a convertible three-in-one that can work as a baby bed, a crib and a play table.

Created by Castor & Chouca, the piece literally stays with your child as he grows up.  It starts out life as a baby bassinet, with a clear plexiglass top and detachable, auto-locking casters.  Later, you can remove the tiny bed, replace it with a larger one sitting near the bottom and turn it into a crib.  Come the time that your child needs his own bed, you can graduate the crib into a junior desk.  Once he’s outgrown that too, you can even use it as a regular side table around the house.

The 1,2,3 Soleil is sold as a kit, with each component sized to make assembly easy.  Based on eco-friendly materials, it uses 20mm-thick bamboo slats for the base, linen and organic cotton for the two mattresses (one for the cradle and another for the crib), plexiglass for the cradle and the crib windows, and a mix of recyclable materials for the tray.  Features include one removable crib window (allowing you to keep it open when your child is able to climb in and out on his own), manually-reclining mattresses and washable covers.

Sounds awesome, right?  Yep, you’ll be a regular tightwad smart parent of the year, using just one fixture for a bevy of uses. Of course, your cheapskate sensibilities might feel offended by the price a little bit- around $1,800 for the complete set. So lets hope the price comes down some and they’ve got a customer in us.
