BoXZY Combines 3D Printer, CNC Mill, And Laser Engraver In One Device

boxzy-1

Sure, you can now get desktop versions of 3D printers, CNC mills, and laser engravers. But why not get one that does all three in a single box? That’s the selling point behind the BoXZY, a three-in-one desktop tool for the maker with limited tabletop space.

Remember when combining the fax, copier, scanner, and printer saved many offices from the horrors of too many desktop devices? Well, this does the same thing for makers’ workshops. Using changeable heads that you simply swap in, the device can quickly transform from a 3D printer to a CNC mill to a laser engraver, allowing it to perform different functions, depending on what you need in a project.

Constructed with CNC-milled aluminum (quarter-inch thick body) and stainless steel hardware, BoXZY is as robust as 3D printers come, with a ballscrew actuation system that actuates all three axes, giving it an accuracy as high as 4 microns. For 3D printing, it can work with PLA, PVA, ninja-flex, ABS, and nylon; for milling, it can handle brass, aluminum, plastics, and hardwoods at speeds of up to 30,000 RPM; and for engraving, it can handle hardwood, leather, and plastic using a 2-watt laser. Designed to ship pre-built (no assembly needed), it features a build area of 6.5 x 6.5 x 8 inches (expandable to 9 x 9 x 8.5 inches) for 3D printing, a work area of 7 x 7 x 7 inches for the mill, and a mounting area of 10 x 10 inches for the engraver (it’s open on either side, so you can load longer objects).
