Gessi Goccia Concept Puts A Kitchen Faucet In Your Dining Table
Need to wash your hands before dinner? Forget about getting up and running to the sink. Just slide your chair over to the end of this concept furniture promoting the Gessi Goccia Kitchen Faucet, which features a dining table with an integrated water faucet and sink.
Designed by Prospero Result, the furniture seeks to save space by adjoining the kitchen sink right into the dining table. While definitely unconventional, it actually makes good sense, especially for combined kitchen/dining areas with very limited room.
We’re not sure if the Gessi Goccia will ever be sold as a dining table/kitchen faucet combo or if the company will leave it as a stylish showcase concept for their faucets and sinks. Either way, this is a very creative idea that has a definite appeal. Imagine this, for instance, as a backyard dining table and outdoor kitchen setup. Pretty sleek, right?
According to the Trendir feature, the faucet [...]
Steelcase Node Updates The Classroom Chair
Modern classrooms need modern chairs. That seems to be the motivation behind the Steelcase Node, which updates the classic school furnishing with a number of very useful additions.
Forget Steelcase’s pitch about multiple modes of learning. The design can, pretty much, speak for itself – a classroom chair with generous desk space, wheels and under-the-seat storage should easily make sitting through sleepy lectures leagues more tolerable.
While compact enough for in-class use, the Steelcase Node doesn’t scrimp on the things that make life easier. It’s got a comfy-looking seat shell that the company says is tailored for “short-sit use,” since you’ll rarely go past a couple of hours inside one classroom anyway. The removable desk can be attached to account for either left- or right-handed students, and can be adjusted to varying distances to account for the student’s size. There’s also enough table area to hold most of the stuff you need [...]
X-Dream Gyroxus Gaming Chair Lets You Sway While You Play
You’ve spent an inordinate amount of cash on your gaming system, buying not just the console, but loads of games and peripherals. Heck, some of you probably even bought a new TV just for playing. So what are you still doing sitting on the couch while taking down AI opponents and traversing virtual universes? The X-Dream Gyroxus wants to change all that, bringing a gyroscopic gaming chair that moves your body along with your gameplay.
Designed for a more immersive gaming experience, the chair will move along with your natural body reactions while you’re playing, using “no motors or power-assistance of any kind.” You know how you shift posture slightly to one side when banking a tight corner in a game like Need For Speed? With this cleverly-rigged seat, your entire body will go along with you, adding an extra dimension to your usual gaming experience.
The X-Dream Gyroxus measures 26.25 x [...]
Tailgate Wooden Picnic Table Folds Into A Suitcase
Why have your picnic on the grass when you can carry a suitcase that gets you a table and four chairs? No, really, the Tailgate Folding Wooden Picnic Table does just that, providing table and seating space for four, while folding into an easy-to-carry box that’s smaller than a guitar case.
Sure, there are many options for folding tables out there. How many of them come clad in wood, though, complete with borderline classy styling? Not that I’m saying the medium brown wood stain finish is all that elegant, but wood should trump hard plastic any day of the week. Unless it’s a rainy day, that is.
The Tailgate Folding Wooden Picnic Table measures 22.25 x 26 x 53.75 inches when unfolded, providing generous table space for your food and ample seating for four. Frame is made from strong aluminum alloy, allowing the seats to hold individuals up to 240lbs each. When [...]
Chairpadbag Adds A Folding Chair Cover On A Bag
Hate uncomfortable chairs? So do we. So why are schoolkids confined to those cumbersome seating furniture again? The Chairpadbag offers a solution, equipping a school bag with chair padding that kids can sling over the backrest and seat to render even the hardest surfaces snug.
Created by Concentrate, the contraption pairs a functional school bag with a special padded flap that can be pulled out after hooking the bag to the backrest. That way, you’ve got cushy surfaces to rest your body onto, all while keeping your stuff within easy reach. Assuming you’re a kid, of course. Not that it’s a bad idea to use one to make sitting through PTA meetings or using the plastic chairs at the fastfood joint more bearable.
The Chairpadbag measures 11.8 x 13.8 inches, with a two-fold flap, sized to cover the seat and backrest on standard school chairs. Zippered bag container is expandable to allow [...]
Vika Veine Is A Full Work Desk Hiding Inside A Barren Table
Looking for a simple table that can fold out into a full-featured work desk? Look no further than the Vika Veine, an unassuming small tabletop that folds out into an excellent working space.
A part of Ikea’s Vika build-your-own-table series, the tabletop can be bought on its own. That means, you can use it as a portable work desk around the house, setting up shop on the dining table, the bed or the coffee table at your discretion. It also works with legs from the Vika table bar, so you can construct it into a full-fledged fixture.
Folded up, the Vika Veine covers your work area neatly, keeping all your gear hidden under its stark white lid. Once opened, it literally transforms into a full-featured work desk, complete with a wide table space, felt board on the inside lid (both for absorbing ambient sound and doubling as a notice board) with pockets [...]
Hollandia iCon Is An iPad-Friendly Luxury Bed
As far as luxury beds go, the Hollandia iCon is only half-ridiculous. Sure, the multimedia headboard with dual iPad docks border on the excessive, but the actual sleeping area looks swank.
Made by Hollandia International and American mattress brand Therapedic, the bed uses Dual-Core 3D mattress technology, which allows either side of the bed to be adjusted separately. The split mattress is made from Vita Talalay Latex, which is soft on the top and firm on the bottom, allowing you to turn each side of the mattress over, depending on your bedding preferences. For a cooler feel, it supposedly adds a layer of air between you and the mattress when you lie down (we’re not sure how that works, though, so don’t ask).
On the gadget end, the iCon’s upholstered headboard features four fully-enclosed speakers, a 250-watt amplifier and two iPad docking stations. That way, you and the wife can have your [...]
Bordbar Turns Airplane Trolleys Into Stylish Storage
Ever wondered what happens to airplane service trolleys when they’re decommissioned? Well, some of them goes to Bordbar, who turns the discarded food and supplies cart into stylish storage solutions.
All items retain their original trolley structure, getting a few fix-ups from the wear and tear they’ve likely accumulated from the service industry. The biggest difference are the redecorated bodies, which give the trolleys new, hip designs that’s bound to fit into most modern homes and offices.
Brodbar has three options for trolleys: Flight Edition, which uses service trolleys that once roamed the aisles off various airline planes; Waste Edition, which uses trolleys used as trash bins during flights; and Silver Edition, a new offering that lets you get carts fresh off the factory, made to the specifications of the aviation industry. All used trolleys are cleaned and fixed before being tested for operational reliability. Only when they’re certified functional are they [...]
Throw Dirty Clothes Here: The Sacrificial Chair
Clothes you take off but intend to wear later can’t go into the laundry bin because stuff there’s too dirty. They can’t go back to the closet either, because you don’t want half-dirty stuff mixed up with the fresh items. A spare chair usually plays the unofficial clothes rack for such in-betweens, and the Sacrificial Chair embraces that spirit completely.
Created by Punga & Smith as an exhibition piece, it’s actually a rack clad in the shape of a chair. Why not just use a real chair? Because there’s no point rendering a functional chair unusable for seating when all you really need is a convenient place to hang your “worn but to be worn again” items of clothing.
The Sacrificial Chair could have been a real chair in another life. In fact, you can throw a small plank on it and use it as a spare chair when you’ve got one [...]
Pushcarts Can Be Mobile Offices Too: The Het Kruikantoor
We’ve seen mobile offices dumped on the back of vans before. If you don’t have a spare vehicle to equip with a work area, however, a push-along office like the Het Kruikantoor just might do the trick.
Created by designer Tim Vinke, the setup is essentially a desk, shelves and two chairs clad in the form of a modular wheelbarrow. Slap them together like Lego blocks and you’ll end up with a pushcart (yes it has wheels on one corner) you can transport anywhere in your building or somewhere within walking distance. To get your makeshift office ready, just take them apart and arrange the individual pieces anywhere you’d like.
The Het Kruikantoor Mobile Office is made from EPS foam (expandable polystrene), which is a pretty durable material, though I’m not sure if it won’t crumble at the weight of your fat ass. The guy in the photo looks like he’s rocking [...]
HECMEC’s Eco-Furniture Uses Modular Paper Tubes
How do you make children’s furniture eco-friendly? In the case of HECMEC’s folding chairs and tables, it’s more than just using recyclable materials for construction – they make themselves more difficult to outgrow in function. Yes, they’ll remain useful even as your kids grow taller.
Endowed with a modular design, the furniture can quickly be reconfigured for different heights by simply swapping out the tubes that make up the frame. For the chairs, you simply replace an outgrown tube with a longer one, all while using the same backrest, seat and bottom, to come up with a taller seating height. Same goes for the tables, whose top and bottoms can take varying lengths of the modular connectors.
The furniture items use plant resin for the main parts of each piece, providing hardy make while remaining 100% recyclable. Since they’ll likely be thrown out much faster than the [...]
Bene Coffice Combines Creature Comforts With Professional Function
Office chairs with an integrated armchair desk make perfect sense. Especially when you’re looking to equip a room with temporary workspaces. The Bene Coffice does it one better, piling on smart styling that makes you look good while slaving over a spreadsheet (or pretending to while playing Farmville, whichever the case may be).
According to creator Bene, the furniture represents “a fusion of the office with a café.” Combining the comforts of a sofa lounger with the function of a desk chair, it should make an ideal fixture for lounges, airport terminals and other places where folks waiting for an appointment or a flight can pull out their laptops to get some work done.
The Bene Coffice features a contemporary design, complete with a cushy seat, low backrest, and steel frame and legs. It has one wide armrest that can double as a functional work desk with enough [...]
Evening Breeze Canopi Puts A Cooling Roof Over Your Bed
Summer is around the corner. And sleeping while sweating profusely is in again. But not for you, cause you’ve got air-conditioning installed in your bedroom. Problem is, cooling the entire room adds serious piles of cash you can’t afford to your electric bill. What to do?
Outfit your current bed with the Evening Breeze Canopi, an air-conditioning system that restricts the temperature change to within your sleeping area. That way, you use the minimum amount of energy, all while providing enough cooling breeze to get yourself a good night’s sleep.
The system uses a canopy designed for placement over the bed, making it look more like a decorative addition than a functional cooling system. It takes air from under the bed, removes its heat using a bundled dehumidifier and uses the canopy’s integrated ventilation system to distribute the conditioned air within the sleeping area. [...]
Convertible Coffee Table Turns Into Work Desk
Don’t have space for a home office? Not a problem with the Convertible Coffee Table, which extends into a functional work desk so you can turn the living room into a makeshift office without having to hunch your back.
Designed for folks who get an inkling to work a computer while watching Oprah, the coffee table’s surface can be lifted to standard desk height. While it looks a little uncomfortable from the picture (I blame the angle), the sales page says it’s been sized to provide a properly-positioned work desk while sitting at the sofa. That way, you don’t have to keep your quick-heating notebook on your lap, burning holes through your jeans (not to mention, whatever lies under there).
The Convertible Coffee Table looks like a regular living room furniture at first glance, with a birch veneer construction, walnut brown finish and 20 x 38 x 24 inch [...]
Grand Central Coffee Table Unfolds Like A Pop-Up Map
Folding coffee tables are nothing new. In fact, you’ve probably seen your share of them. But still every time we see a new one, its like awesomeness all over again. The Grand Central functions in a similar way, offering a full-fledged coffee table that folds up into a bundle you can stow inside a closet for easy storage.
The brainchild of designers Sanna Lindström and Sigrid Strömgren, the tabletop features a folding structure based on a pop-up map of New York (hence the name). In compact form, you can hide it inside tight spaces or equip for use as an end table; once opened to full size, it becomes a large, round coffee table that’s bound to be a commanding presence in any room.
Because it was inspired by a pop-up map, Grand Central uses a similar folding mechanism consisting of 22 interconnected tiles. The actual change happens like [...]
Paperweight Desk Is Made From Sturdy Cardboard, Assembles In Minutes
Setting up a fly-by-night office is hard. Getting all those desks and stuff set up can actually take long hours, even days. Smart scoundrels who demand efficiency can definitely do better with the Paperweight Desk, a lightweight cardboard table that can be carried by hand and assembled in minutes.
No longer will you need to abandon perfectly good furniture when you need to run in a jiffy. Just take the desks apart (three minutes average), carry them to the back, load them in the truck and run. Quick escape – all without requiring a crew of workers or a flood of sweat.
Laden with a white finish, the Paperweight Desk looks like a normal wood fixture, instead of the 100% recyclable corrugated cardboard that it actually is. Despite the material, it’s supposed to be very sturdy, making it completely usable when your employees are pretending to work [...]
