Yes, it’s not uncommon for folks to use the dining table when playing tabletop games. I mean, it’s big, it’s spacious, and it can fit a group of players easily. But what if you can replace the dining table with an equally affordable one that converts into a gaming table with a recessed playing area? That’s exactly what Board Game Tables is offering with the Duchess.

A convertible gaming/dining table, it comes with a removable top that reveals a recessed playing area with a padded surface that makes it ideal for rolling dice and picking up cards. Whether you’re playing Twilight Imperium, Texas Holdem, or dominos with wooden tiles, this thing should contain all your game pieces and keep things organized.

In dining table mode, the Board Game Tables Duchess has a tabletop measuring 3.5 x 5.5 feet, making it perfectly suitable for meals with the family, with two removable center panels that reveal the 3 x 5 foot playing area. Three-inch rails along the edges make sure dice and tokens never roll off the table, all while serving as a convenient place to rest your arms during play. Because the playing surface is recessed by 2.25 inches, you can leave unfinished games undisturbed by simply covering them up, allowing you to easily resume play after dinner.

Features include two cup holders at each end of the table, a fully enclosed playing area (so dinner spills won’t seep through), and a double-sided playing surface with different colors. Do note, the table ships unassembled, so you’ll have to pull out the screwdriver and do a little work before getting a game started.

A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for the Board Game Tables Duchess. Pledges to reserve a unit starts at $799.
