E-Powered Downhill Kit Turns Your Bike Into Uphill-Climbing Machine

Biking down a mountainside at high speeds can be exhilarating.  The long trip up the trail?  Not so much.  That’s what the Ego-Kits E-Powered Downhill Bike Kit looks to remedy.

Designed to fit up to 70% of bicycles out in the wild, the add-on mounts a motorized system to your pedal-pushed two-wheeler.  That way, you don’t have to torture your chicken legs pedaling up slopes, all while enjoying the same downhill thrills every single trip.

The E-Powered Downhill Bike Kit includes everything you need to convert a regular downhill mountain bike into motorized hybrid.  Set includes a 1200W motor (can be tuned to 2400W for maximum power), a battery pack, crankset, chain, throttle and charger, all of which you’ll have to install yourself, so good luck with that.  Battery is supposedly good for 1,000 cycles (not sure exactly what that means) on a single top-up, with a one-hour charge time.

According to Ego-Kits, the mid-mounted motor assembly will add around 10lbs to the weight of your bike, which should be tolerable, considering the added convenience of never having to pedal up a slope again.  You can configure the motor to assist your pedaling or operate it manually via an additional throttle.  Armed with one, you should be able to scale slopes of up to 38-degrees without having to get your legs to do the work.

Sure, riding to the top of a downhill trail is some kind of cheating.  They can complain all they want for all your legs care, though — you have it sweet.  No word on pricing or availability for the Ego-Kits E-Powered Downhill Bike Kit, but expect it to be, at the least, a minor hit.  It sounds awesome.
