With children able to access the internet over many different devices, the chances of being able to police what websites they encounter is harder than ever. Sure, you can install parental controls on any tablets or laptops they use, but they can still access  the web through TVs, game consoles, and streaming boxes, among other things. So why not put parental controls right on the router? That’s what Gryphon was built to do.

Created by the guys behind the MiFi portable hotspot, the router comes with built-in security features, allowing you to manage your children’s internet use at home right from the source. Whether you’re concerned about limiting access to specific websites, managing the amount of time they spend online, or checking the websites they visit, this thing lets you manage it all from a single app.

The Gryphon is a tri-band Wi-Fi router, with six high-powered internal antennas that allow it to cover an area of up to 2,500 square feet. It’s as modern as any high-end router, so it comes with wireless mesh networking to easily extend the signal coverage, MU-MIMO technology (which opens separate data streams for each device), and antenna beam forming for optimal wireless connections.

Aside from parental controls, it also boasts intelligent intrusion detection for enterprise-grade security, as well as whole-house malware protection to safeguard all your connected devices. It comes in a stylish sculpture-like design that should make it a whole lot easier to find a place for in the house.

A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for Gryphon. Pledges to reserve a unit starts at $139.
