Whether you shoot videos using a smartphone, a GoPro, or a DSLR, you’ll need a decent stereo mic to ensure your video is accompanied with decent sound. Otherwise, you’re looking at a hit or miss. If you’re going to pick up a mic, why not make it one with an integrated grip for your filming rig, too? That’s exactly what you’re getting with the MicRig.

A video grip and microphone assembly, it lets you conveniently carry your shooting rig in one hand, freeing up your other hand to grab a cold drink, text on your phone, or carry a second camera.  Even better, it’s universal, so you can use it with a smartphone, an action cam, a mirrorless shooter, or even a DSLR.

The MicRig has an adjustable mounting screw on the platform, allowing you to mount a camera using its standard tripod connector. That same screw can take either the bundled smartphone clip or GoPro mount for use with other devices, while the integrated shock mounting counteracts handling noise for quiet operation. It uses two 9.7mm condenser mics to capture professional-grade audio, which can run for up to 75 hours using just one AA battery.

Do note, the grip supports a maximum weight of 7.7 pounds, so while that should cover most DSLR bodies and lenses, you might need something else for larger setups. Features include a padded grip, a shoe mount for adding accessories, and a standard mounting thread at the bottom so you can put the whole thing on a tripod.
