Nook Coffee Table Sports An Oddly-Shaped Bookshelf Corner

We don’t know if it will ever see the light of day, but the Nook Coffee Table looks like the perfect piece to bring a modern living room together.  Sporting an unusual design, it’s both attractive and creatively functional at the same time.

Designed by Dave Pickett, the geometric coffee table has a corner that “dips” into a shelf, giving you an instant spot to hold magazines and books.  The execution is lovely, creating a perplexing shape that’s bound to intrigue everyone who sees it for the first time.

We’re not sure about its exact dimensions, but the Nook Coffee Table has ample space to fit in the usual assortment of items that end up on your coffee table.  Make is soft maple hardwood, with a natural tung oil finish.

Not only is the shape an immediate source of wonder, the design makes the furnishing look like its only standing on one side, too — an effect accomplished by a barely-visible third foot created by the shelf itself.   Oh, and in case you don’t really need a bookshelf, you can have the odd corner face you for use as a lower foot stool, in case the actual tabletop’s too high for comfort.

As we alluded to earlier, the Nook Coffee Table is only a concept prototype for now.  Would love to be able to walk into my local furniture outlet and grab one, though.  The thing looks gorgeous.
