Parabolic Sound Sphere Is An Amplifier And Not A Salad Bowl

You like big, round things.  They remind you of melons.  And certain other things.  So you conclude: all big, round things must be good.  Now, you can enjoy music playback on your smartphone with something big and round, too, with the Clingo Parabolic Sound Sphere.

A non-powered sound amplifier, it’s basically a bowl where you put your phone (or some other mobile music player) in.  Why?  Because your phone’s built-in speakers suck and all tunes you play over them sound like crap.  This audio-enhancing salad bowl will put an end to that, all while sparing you from having to find another wall outlet or buying a fresh set of batteries.

The Clingo Parabolic Sound Sphere is a tabletop acoustic amplifier that raises sound levels by 10 decibels, helping project it better across the room.  It has a magnetized pad that lets you stick in any mobile phone or music player, whether you’re an Apple fanboy, a Nokia user or an old-school Blackberry holdout.   An obscured pass-through cable slot is available, as well, so you can charge your phone while it sits inside the sphere.

The parabolic shape isn’t just good for blowing up sound, it also doubles as a shield so your screen doesn’t get hit by lighting in the room.  That way, you can watch a small movie on the screen without pesky light reflections messing up the experience.

We’re not sure how good the Clingo Parabolic Sound Sphere sounds.  Given that non-powered acoustic amplification isn’t all that new anyway, there’s probably little in the way of surprises here.  Still, this would be a good speaker dock option if you’d rather not use up any more power than you have to.  It’s available now, priced at $34.99.
