We always take claims of being the lightest, toughest, and fastest with a grain of salt. Simply put, it’s always a toss coin with such claims. That, however, doesn’t apply in the case of Sea to Summit’s Ultralight Hammock, whose ridiculous 4.9-ounce weight is very likely the lightest in the category.
That’s right, a proper hammock that weighs just a hair over a quarter of a pound, ensuring this thing won’t add any heft to your pack. Despite the lightweight build, it’s as capable as most hammocks in the market, with a rated weight capacity of 300 pounds, so even heavyweights can lounge on it without any trouble.
The Sea to Summit Ultralight Hammock achieves the lightweight build courtesy of a specially-designed Nylon 66 monofilament fabric that can also pack down into a tiny bundle for maximum portability. That same fabric boasts high levels of breathability, too, so you can lie down on a sweltering day without making a puddle. To maintain the lightweight construction, it uses 6061 aluminum for the buckle, with a triple bar-tacked webbing loop for long-term durability.
It has an integrated water-resistant compression sack, which has been designed with extra room to accommodate your suspension straps. Dimensions are 8.5 x 4 feet (length x width).
No pricing is listed, but the Sea to Summit Ultralight Hammock will be available in March.
