S T R E T C H Turns Giant Rubber Band Into A Shelving Solution

S T R E T C H Turns Giant Rubber Band Into A Shelving Solution

Rubber bands for shelves?  That sounds silly, but the S T R E T C H Shelf (yep, it’s spelled with all those irritating spaces) shows how it can be done, and the results are particularly attractive.
The modular shelving solution uses one large rubber band and an array of pegs that you can arrange whichever way you fancy.  Simply position those pegs on your wall, wring the rubber band around them and you’ve got yourself a most awesome-looking wall compartment.  If you get tired of its looks, just plug a few new pegs in and rearrange the bands to any shape you can come up with.
Using  a set of machined aluminum pegs and a cast rubber band, you can create a limitless number of shelving designs – as long as you can stretch the thing to fit it.  The ultra-thick, extra-large rubber band has a default diameter of 10 inches, [...]

Wisdom Tree Bookshelf Nurses Your Books In Its Branches

Wisdom Tree Bookshelf Nurses Your Books In Its Branches

If you need to spice up your home library (or entertainment room) a bit, Jordi Mila’s Wisdom Tree Bookshelf looks just like the perfect fixture to add.   It offers sufficient shelf space for a large number of books (or DVDs) and does it all with an unusual flair for drama.

Staying true to its name, the shelf branches out into a “fluid and organic” shape, with your books looking like bundles of fruits ripe for the picking.  The red color really helps it pop out, although I can’t help but imagine how pristine [...]

Swiss Knife Shelf Gives You Tons Of Storage In one

Swiss Knife Shelf Gives You Tons Of Storage In one

The Swiss Knife has long been the symbol of compact utility.  The fact that its design principles hasn’t been applied anywhere else is actually a bit odd, although it does seem hard to imagine how that out-flipping function would fit anywhere else except hand tools.  As it turns out, it could be applied to wall shelving as well, as evidenced by the Mexican Army Shelf.
Like a Swiss Knife, the unique shelf looks like a stack of items (in this case, wood), neatly tucked into a frame. In fact, it looks like the ugliest wood shelf imaginable.  Start tugging on the layers, though and the brilliance reveals itself.
The Mexican Army Shelf works much like a pull-out closet, except the protruding implements offer a varied range that go beyond mere boxes.  In keeping with the Swiss Knife theme, layers pull out in a rotating manner from the corner.
Designed by students at Mexican [...]
