Hoyt Carbon Matrix, An Ultra-Light, Extra-Powerful Bow
Because you never know when you’ll be kidnapped and dropped off in another planet to be hunted by Predators, it pays to have a weapon nearby. While guns are always awesome, you’ll be better off hauling killing machines with reusable ammunition (you don’t know how many of them single-minded aliens you have to kill, after all). The Hoyt Carbon Matrix, a seriously scary-looking bow, should be right up for your consideration.
Hoyt loads up on the hyperbole and calls it “a quantum leap for the entire archery industry.” Since I don’t own a subscription to Bowhunting World, I’ll have to take their word for it. Which isn’t hard to do, by the way, considering just how menacing this contraption looks.
The Carbon Matrix is the company’s lightest high-end bow, weighing a mere 3.8 lbs. That means plenty of mobility for you, even while packing dozens of arrows, as you defend your life [...]
Tactical Balls Disorient Perps With Blinking Lights
Tasers are great for personal protection. But if you’re going on the offensive, you’ll need to get close to the target before you can use them. For that, you’ll need these Tactical Balls, which deliver flashes of ultra-bright lights to disorient your targets enough that they won’t see you creeping up and sticking a taser up their you know what. Or slamming a pie on their face, depending on which attack you prefer.
Designed for use by law enforcement agencies, you’ve probably seen them in one of those hundred-something cop shows that regularly show up on TV. If you haven’t, it isn’t too hard to imagine how they work: walk up within throwing distance of the perps, switch the blinky balls on and roll them to where your targets are. Once the painfully discombobulating lights have done their job, just grab your choice of perp and take them to the torture [...]
Slice Your Dinner Like A Medieval Madman With The Two-Handed Great Sword
Don’t like guns, but enjoy intimidating people? Put a medieval-style scare on your neighbors by walking around the street with the Two-Handed Great Sword, a battle-ready blade that’s so big you’re gonna need two hands to keep it under control.
Created by blade-makers Cold Steel, it is the biggest sword in their arsenal and is designed to make short work out of whatever you plan to use a sword for. Whether it’s for looking like the scariest guy in your next medieval convention, chopping two pigs in half at the same time (seriously, they do it on the video below) or putting the hurt on two boots filled with meat that attack you in the middle of the night (yes, it’s in the video too), we can’t imagine a more efficient tool for the job.
The Two-Handed Great Sword sports an almost 40-inch carbon steel blade that can pop balloons, [...]
Hublot Liberty Bullet Is Armed To Tell Time
Why put a watch on a bullet? I have no idea. Before that thing hits you between the eyes, you already know what time it is anyway. It’s time to die, sucka. The Hublot Liberty Bullet, however, thinks knowing the exact hour before you bite the dust is a luxury you deserve to enjoy.
Created by the company’s highly-specialized watchmaking division, Confrérie Horlogère, the timepiece is basically a pocket watch in the form of a slug. We’re not sure if you can actually load it into a real weapon, but it sure sounds like a good way to (warning: bad pun oncoming) kill time.
The Hublot Liberty Bullet houses a tourbillion mechanism inside a gun cartridge, with the time shown off in a roller display panel along the side and a more conventional dial right down the bottom. Designed to sit on a pocket or hang [...]
Metaltech Anti-Terrorist Assault Cart: An Armored Cart For Close-Quarters Combat
RPG-proof armored trucks are cool. When you’re fighting in narrow alleys and closed spaces, though, they’re practically of no use. That’s where the Metaltech Anti-Terrorist Assault Cart comes in. You’re not hearing it wrong – it’s literally a cart armored up for battle.
Created by Indian firm Metaltech Motor Bodies Pvt Ltd, the vehicle was built in the wake of 2008’s Mumbai attacks, where gunmen holed up in two luxury hotels managed to keep government forces at bay for 60 long hours. The small-profile vehicle is expected to help in similar hard-to-access combat scenarios, allowing commandos entry into the facilities without putting themselves at unnecessary risk.
Able to go where no other military vehicle has gone before, the Metaltech Anti-Terrorist Assault Cart can stroll through hotel lobbies, elevators, narrow alleys and other tight spaces. It can operate for up to six hours on a single charge, reaching speeds of up to 15mph.
Of [...]
In Gangland Taiwan, The Handgun Of Choice Is A Shotgun Revolver
Shotguns pack a punch, but those things are also huge – not the type of weapon you can stick under your pants when you want to roll down packing quietly. In gangland Taiwan, they’re supposed to get over that hurdle by using these: shotgun revolvers.
Yes, it’s a small handheld weapon that you can, theoretically, hide under baggy jeans. Really baggy jeans. Unlike other pistols, though, it can take standard 12-gauge shotgun slugs and shells, allowing you to put a serious hurting on enemy gangs, whether you’re looking to deliver a single round or effect a wide kill zone.
Shotgun revolvers are, apparently, becoming a big deal in Taiwan, where they are turning into the preferred weapon of choice for many local gang elements. The one in the picture was said to have been recovered from a 19-year old runner for a Taiwanese gang. It looks ghetto as hell, doesn’t it?
The revolver [...]
Say Goodbye To Sandbags, Soldier: McCurdy’s Armor Is A Portable Steel Fort That Sets Up Like Legos
I’ve never been to war, but stacking sandbags to set up a defensive line just sounds like a terrible way to spend the day. A defense contractor finally did something about it with the McCurdy’s Armor, a steel-plated wall that provides equivalent protection while setting up within minutes.
Named after a Marine who died in the line of duty in 2006, the new military rig boasts assembly that requires no tools or equipment, with the company going as far as to call it a “LEGO-type system.” Even better, it divides into flat, stackable pieces when not in use, allowing you to pile it in the back of a truck for carrying with you to the next mission.
McCurdy’s Armor houses soldiers behind a 6.5 feet tall structure using individual panels that you can arrange into U-, V- or J- shaped covers of variable size (depending on what the situation calls for). Not [...]
Metal Storm’s Virtual Minefields Will Cover Ground Like Landmines Using Sensors And Electronic Weapons
Wars, violence and most of all landmines suck. They are exactly opposite of anything cool. Even after hostilities have ceased, land mines continue to stay on the ground, playing a dormant trap that will kill, maim and injure innocent civilians years after. It’s an indiscriminate weapon that sacrifices future safety for convenience – downright irresponsible. That’s why Metal Storm’s new Virtual Minefield is leagues more humane, providing the same unattended traps for enemy troops, all while being completely easy to clean up.
How does it do that? Instead of charges that you install under the soil, the system uses sensors that alert the automated firing mechanism, which then deploys lethal payload wherever activity is detected
The Virtual Minefield starts with the very first round in each barrel, which fires out a wireless sensor into any area of your choosing (you don’t even have to go to the territory physically). Because one detecting [...]
Glare LA-9/P, A Military-Grade Laser Pointer That Blinds Enemies From 2.5 Miles Away
Tired of merely annoying people in class with your laser pointer? Start doing it to victims up to 2.5 miles away with the Glare LA-9/P, a military-grade visual disruption device. Yep, it’s a blinding laser pointer that can do the deed from an insane distance.
Made by B.E. Meyers, it’s been used extensively in Iraq for warning forwarding troops before pulling the trigger. Being an extension of a childhood prank, it’s also supposed to have caused many “friendly” casualties, with soldiers blinding their fellow fighters while monkeying around (don’t be sad, the blindness is supposed to be temporary).
The Glare LA-9/P is classified as an ultra high-powered ocular interruption device (OID) that sends a piercing green beam to innocent bystanders, friendly troops and enemy combatants from a distance. It’s ruggedized (complete with waterproof housing) for field use and can be integrated into your favorite weapons (yes, even if your favorite weapon is [...]
The Bedazzler: A Dizzying DIY, Non-Lethal Weapon
Not too long ago, Homeland Security showed off a new $1 million non-lethal weapon. Billed as the The Dazzler, the device blinds targets with a strong flash, leaving them dizzy and feeling “sea-sick.” Since you probably don’t have the cool million to spare, you should be able to replicate it in a smaller scale with The Bedazzler, a $250 handheld incapacitator that mimics the effects of the government-issue instrument.
While I’m not sure how effective it would be for temporary immobilization compared to a taser or a heat-generating laser, it should offer a couple more applications beyond the sock-it-to-them-bastards variety. Based on the images, it could work well for use as blinking party lights, as well as mood lighting for some strange-looking photographs.
The Bedazzler is an Arduino-based DIY device that can be set on top of a table or held in hand. Three sets of six LEDs each are used in [...]
Best Made Co.’s Colorful Hickory Axes Make Chopping Trees Look Hip
Lumberjack and fruity aren’t exactly two words that go together. But that’s only because you’re not trying hard enough. Best Made Co.’s brand of hickory helve axes, however, makes the two adjectives fit in naturally, combining the blade’s wood-chopping utility with colorful designs.
I can think of very few jobs nowadays that require grabbing hold of an axe. Lumberjack, fireman and “killer in a horror movie” are the only three occupations, in fact, that come to mind. Sure, it makes sense to keep one at home when you live in a house with an actual fireplace and no central heating. Other than that, though, I can’t imagine anyone else requiring the shapely hand tool.
The special axes from Best Made Co. bring woodman chic into the picture, decking the classic timber-splitter with stylish flair. Like regular axes, each 30-inch creation comes with one end sporting a forged and sharpened 3.5-lb cutting blade, [...]
Taser Shockwave Barricades Your Nerd Fort With A Wall Of Debilitating Electric Payloads
Looking for a way to keep the boss away from your cubicle? Set up a barrier no one will dare violate with the Taser Shockwave, a series of modular, stackable tasers, ready to attack at the touch of a button.
Building a secure fort has never been so easy. Just get a few Shockwave panels (each one comes with six payloads), line them up and pile them on top of each other, to build your own wall of debilitating shock. The next time you hear your boss’ footsteps coming your way, fire up the thing and send the poor schmuck to the land of dreams. Of course, there’s no guarantee you’ll keep your job after that, but you’ll be the de facto office superhero, possibly being led out by security to a chorus of cheers.
Each Shockwave packs six armed tasers each, ready to attack oncoming threats up to within 25 feet. [...]
XM25 Rifle Shoots At Targets Hiding Behind Cover
Having trouble shooting at wild boars who keep hiding behind trees? Blow up the tree and nail them dead with the military’s latest rifle. Called the XM25, it fires a bullet that can pierce through walls and other types of cover, then explode once they’ve made their way inside.
Combining the accuracy of a rifle with the ability of inflicting range damage like a grenade, the firearm removes the need to call in an artillery fire when enemies are shielding themselves using battleground infrastructure. Enemies hiding inside a room? Pfffft. Taking refuge behind a wall? Ho-hum. Closed-quarter combat and ground encounters will never be the same again.
The rifle uses a laser rangefinder to calculate the exact stretch from its location to the barrier, which the soldier can then manually adjust (+/- 3 meters) depending on how much further the actual targets likely are. A chip inside the bullet (developed by [...]
Sap Cap: Ugly Headpiece, Potent Weapon
Here’s one more personal self-defense weapon to add to your arsenal. Called the Sap Cap, it’s a blank baseball cap armed with a weighted blackjack right on the crown.
For the unsuspecting onlooker, it looks just like any fashion atrocity – an ugly baseball cap picked up from Target bins. Take it off, however, and it turns into a blackjack, ready to break noses and smash skulls. Just use the cap bill as the handle and hurl the crown at whoever’s hurting for a beating. It’s an instant knockout punch without needing to use your knuckles.
A deceptively powerful weapon, the Sap Cap contains a pocket of impact material that the manufacturer claims has 10% more density than lead. Since it doesn’t rust, you can keep the Sap Cap forever and have it as a handy weapon, ready to serve you any time you wear it (at [...]
