Ultra Light Specialist Tents Fold Up Almost The Size Of A Water Bottle

Looking for the lightest, most portable tent you can swap your money for?  The new Specialist tents from Sea to Summit could be just what your overburdened back has been wishing to get all this time.

Available in one person (Solo) and two person (Duo) models, the tents tip the scales at just 625 grams (22oz.) and 846 grams (29oz.), respectively.   And, yes, those numbers include the shelter, the poles, the pegs and even the ground sheet.  Yikes.  In case you find even that too heavy, you can leave the included poles at home, too, since the tents are designed to work with regular trekking poles and natural anchors.

The Specialist Solo gets one entrance and one main area, while the Specialist Duo gets two of each.  Other than that, though, they’re the same in all other aspects.  Doors are made with ultra-fine mesh panel, which should keep insects away, while allowing for maximum ventilation.

Each tent comes with a set of 2 poles and 6 pegs, all made from 7075 alloy to maximize the strength-to-weight ratio.   The waterproof and breathable shelters are made from Pertex Endurance 20D nylon, with 15D nylon walls, vestibule and flooring.   To guarantee holding up to the elements, they’re double stitched and bar-tacked at all stress points, too.

As you can imagine, the Specialist tents wrap up in a small bundle and is just slightly bigger than a regular Nalgene bottle.  Pricing will be $429 for the Solo and $499 for the Duo, although you can’t buy one until they ship March of next year.
