Umbra FishHotel Is A Stackable Condo-Style Aquarium

Built for small fish that are best kept on their own (like those aggressive bettas), the Umbra FishHotel is a stackable aquarium that allows you to maximize space for multiple swimming pets.  The name, of course, comes from the fact that the exterior looks more fashionable than my apartment building.  Stack a few of these together and you’ll really look like you have a fancy hotel model sitting atop the corner table.  Yes, with fish swimming in it.

Winner of Canada’s Build a Better competition, the Teddy Luong-designed aquarium reimagines the fishbowl in a totally different way .  While it’s little more than a square glass container with a fancy outer panel, the effect is mighty impressive.

The Umbra FishHotel measures  7.5 x 7.5 x 8 inches and weighs 5 pounds.  Building facade with asymmetrical windows is made from ABS plastic and can be removed, in case you want to leave your glass aquarium bare.

Modeled after modern condominiums, the detachable outer shell can be painted over, allowing you to decorate a shelf with colorful “buildings” to house your colorful gilled pets.  The top is uncovered, though, so you may have to add in your own roof if you want to keep the fish from leaping out of the water.

Umbra FishHotel is available for $22.25.
