2022 Can-Am Defender 6×6 Limited Combines Workhorse Utility With In-Ride Comforts

The Can-Am Defender is arguably one of the best work-oriented side-by-sides, delivering an excellent combination of handling, power, and workhorse utility. For 2022, the updated UTV gets even better, with new engines, more cargo room, and all sorts of refinements that make it such a helpful tool in the field. They also offer the ride in a variety of packages that can better suit what you intend to do with the ride. If you’re planning to make it the most capable workhorse in your ranch or farm, we have a feeling you’ll love the 2022 Can-Am Defender 6×6 Limited.

Quite possibly the most capable work side-by-side the company has ever built, the new six-wheeled model boasts industry-leading towing capacity and cargo bed length, along with a whole host of amenities that, the outfit claims, will deliver “the pinnacle of off-road comforts.” That way, you can get any sort of hauling and towing work done in the most comfortable way possible.

The 2022 Can-Am Defender 6×6 Limited is powered by the Rotax HD10, a 976cc V-twin liquid-cooled engine that puts out 82 horsepower and 69 pound-foot of torque, which comes in a powerpack design that should provide an improved riding experience with less noise and vibration than previous Defender engines. It uses the same PRO-TORQ CVT transmission found in the last generation of the UTV, so it should deliver the same smooth and quick response, with selectable 4WD/6WD, electronic descent control, and dynamic power steering. The suspension has 10-inch travel on both front and rear, with twin-tube gas-charged shocks, along with 13 inches of ground clearance, making this a truly capable off-road ride.

It retains the 3,000-pound towing capacity of previous 6×6 Defenders, making this a veritable truck in terms of towing power. The vehicle can support a total payload of 1,570 pounds, including 1,000 pounds in the extended cargo box and 250 pounds in the tailgate, so you can carry a good load of stuff even without towing a trailer in the back. It has full-width storage under the bed for smaller gear like tools and supplies, as well as a hydraulic power tilt bed that allows you to quickly dump any cargo you’re carrying at the push of a button.

The 2022 Can-Am Defender 6×6 Limited is also designed for comfort, coming with a full HVAC system in tow, allowing you to keep the cabin at optimal working temperatures, regardless of the time of the year, as well as an intuitive cockpit designed for optimized visibility and lateral support. It has a three-position full glass tilt-up windshield and rear glass window, electric opening windows, a 7.6-inch dash display with keypad, and even an optional waterproof sound system right on the full hard roof, complete with multi-colored LEDs, so you can kit out your UTV to look even nicer than your pickup truck. Other features include VERSA-PRO bolster bench seats, 140W lighting output, a 4,500-pound winch, adjustable tilt steering, dual 220mm disc brakes, 14-inch cast aluminum wheels, and Maxxis Bighorn tires.

The 2022 Can-Am Defender 6×6 Limited is available now, priced starting at $30,399.
