Fiddling with the settings on your DSLR can get you better looking shots. Problem is, unless you know what you’re doing, those same shots can also turn out a complete disaster.  Arsenal, a smart camera remote, is designed to help with that.

Equipped with an integrated AI that’s been trained to understand what works best in different photographs, the device can identify a scene, find similar scenes from its database, and determine which settings will make for the most ideal shot, taking into account 18 different factors. From there, it automatically makes the adjustments, ensuring you can get the best-looking shot without having to fiddle with the settings yourself. Oh yeah, that AI isn’t cloud-based either (it’s locally kept), so you can use it without an internet connection.

As with any wireless camera remote, you can use Arsenal as a mere triggering tool, so you can keep controlling the camera while you chill up to 100 feet away via the companion app (iOS and Android). It can automatically perform advanced photo stacking and focus stacking, ensuring you can take good pictures even in less-than-ideal conditions, all while allowing you to take long exposure shots and timelapses directly from the app. And, yes, you can still override any of the device’s adjustments, so you can get the exact settings that you’re looking for.

Features include built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, six hour battery life (you can plug it in to a power bank for longer shoots), and a compact size, so it won’t take too much space in your gear bag. It works with most DSLR and mirrorless camera models from Nikon, Canon, Sony, and Fuji.

A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for Arsenal. You can reserve a unit for pledges starting at $150.
