Awamoko Foam Pen Lets You Draw 3D Sculptures Using Soap Suds

We love 3D printing pens and all, but they’re not exactly perfect tools for kids. For one, that plastic it extrudes is way hot, which could lead to burns. It’s also far from easy to actually create something you’ll actually enjoy. Maybe leave the 3D printing pens to the more coordinated teens and let the little ones loose on the Awamoko 3D Foam Pen instead.

No, you can’t actually make wireframe structures of towers and such using this thing. However, your kids can use it to make fluffy bunnies, cuddly kittens, and whatever other shapes they can dream up with soap suds. You know, like those 3D foam sculptures baristas put on top of your coffee drinks, except made with cleaning agents instead of frothy milk.

The Awamoko 3D Foam Pen looks kind of like those 3D printing pens, too, except with a chunkier body, since it needs an adequate chamber to hold all that liquid soap it turns into foam. Any kind of liquid hand soap will work, too, so don’t be surprised if every bottle of hand soap in the kitchen and bathroom ends up emptying out in days instead of weeks.  To use, simply press the button on the pen and the foam spits out of the nozzle. From there, you simply use the included spatula to more precisely shape the foam to your liking.

Do note, the pen isn’t waterproof, so you might want to supervise the kids when playing with this in the bathtub. It uses one AAA battery.

Available now, the Awamoko 3D Foam Pen is priced at $39.
