Bottle Grenade Multi Tool Looks Pretty Useful

For all intents and purposes, the world doesn’t need another bottle opener multi-tool.  There, I said it.  With that out of the way, let me gush at just how much I want this Bottle Grenade.

Why?  Because it looks awesome.  Then again, so do the half dozen or so multi-tools I have at home that can open bottles and twist bolts and stuff.    Still, you can’t have too many awesome-looking trinkets in your life, especially when you can’t afford ridiculously awesome things like an Aventador or a superyacht or a space vacation.

The Bottle Grenade is a keychain multi-tool designed to hook onto a belt loop for safekeeping.  With cutout holes on the body, you can use it as a wrench or tool bit holder, as well as a keychain for hanging your keyrings on.  It’s made from 6061-T6 aluminum, with each unit CNC milled right in the business owner’s garage (he runs a hobby mill at home).

The best part, though, is the bottle opener, which you can employ two ways.   First, you can use it to pry a cap open.  Unlike other bottle openers, it does so without denting the cap heavily, allowing you to use the cap again to cover the bottle if needed.  Second, the underside of the bottle opener serves as a bottle twist opener (for twist-open caps), which you can also use to put previously-pried caps back in, effectively turning an erstwhile regular cap into a twist cap.  Since it still leaves a very slight dent, you probably won’t be able to preserve the fizz in the drink, but this makes it possible to close a bottle that would have to stay open permanently otherwise.

Want one?  You can reserve on the Bottle Grenade’s project page on Kickstarter.  Pledges to secure one start at $20.
