Cubii Wants To Put An Elliptical Trainer Under Your Desk To Keep You Active All Day

Looking for a way to stay physically active while sitting on your favorite office chair?  While dancing on your Steelcase Gesture Chair will always achieve that (albeit, in a silly-looking way), we have a feeling you’ll find the Cubii a less-embarrassing solution.

A miniature elliptical trainer, it slips right under your desk for use while sitting down.  Place your feet on the footpads then start kicking forward and back in a motion similar to a regular elliptical machine.   That’s it — you’re keeping active and burning extra calories, all while typing away on the computer like you do everyday at the office.

Unlike a real elliptical machine, the Cubii won’t really require that much conscious effort.  For something a bit more intense, You might want to look at this pedal powered computer desk. Instead, it can leverage the simple, unconscious leg movements you make throughout the day to get the machine in motion, making it unobtrusive to your workflow.  As an exercise, it’s far from tedious, too, so it won’t leave you tired and sweaty even after a long day of use.  It’s small enough to be placed in a gym bag or carried by hand (it comes with an integrated handle), while operating in silence (no distracting machine noises).  Dimensions are 24 x 15 x 10 inches, with a weight of 25 pounds.

Resistance is adjustable, so you can go easy when you don’t want much distractions, then go hard when you’re a little less busy.  It comes with Bluetooth connectivity and an accompanying mobile app, with an open API for integrating with other fitness apps in the market.

A Kickstarter campaign is currently running to fund Cubii.  Pledges to reserve a unit starts at $299.
