The Grovemade Matte Desk Pad is made up of two materials: natural linoleum on top and a laminated cork at the bottom. The linoleum, which is made from linseed oil, pine rosin, wood flour, and calcium carbonate, is durable, antistatic, and resists fingerprint smudges, so it will stay looking good for the long haul in spite of daily use. The cork, on the other hand, provides the necessary cushion with 3.5mm of thickness, making the whole thing feel much more comfortable to work on, compared to your regular tabletop. Seriously, would you rather nod off on a table top with a hardwood surface or one with a generous layer of cork on top? Yeah, no contest.
According to Grovemade, the desk pad has a soft and even texture that’s ideal for writing, so you can write cleanly on a single sheet of paper laid on top of it. Of course, we’re a bit doubtful because it has cork as its base (which makes us think it might be a bit soft), although we’ll take their word for it. It can also work as a functional mousepad, by the way, so you can ditch that extra accessory under your optical mouse and use this surface to move that cursor smoothly all over the multi-screen setup on your giant 40-inch monitor.
The Grovemade Matte Desk Pad comes in four sizes, so you can cover as little or as much of your desk as you prefer. The smallest pad measures 11 x 25.25 inches (depth x width), so it’s just wide enough to fit a full size keyboard on the left side and a mouse on the right, while the medium measures 11 x 38.5 inches, which should fit a keyboard, a mouse, and maybe a coffee cup (or a desk organizer) at the right end. The large desk pad measures 26 x 38 inches, which should be enough to cover most work desk setups, providing sufficient room for most of the stuff in your workspace, while the extra-large measures 26 x 49 inches, making it the perfect pick for those with plenty of desk space to cover.
