From what we know of the upcoming Transformers movie, they plan to introduce entirely new breeds of cybernetic aliens, expanding the film universe beyond the traditional Autobots and Decepticons battle. Apparently, those new shapeshifting robots include an entire tribe that look like they were designed to fit in with the Mad Max aesthetic. If that sounds like a giant robot you would like to add to your collection, then you’ll definitely love the Hasbro Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Studio Series Leader 101 Scourge.
The leader of the Terrorcons, the robot looks like the kind of cybernetic creature that would emerge out of an apocalyptic wasteland, with weathered parts that look like they’ve seen better days. You know… like a scrapyard Transformer of some sort. While we’re not sure what the movie version of the Terrorcons actually are, the plot brief says they’ll be beefing with the Autobots for something called the Transwarp Key, with this guy going head-to-head with the Big Bot Optimus Prime himself.
The Hasbro Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Studio Series Leader 101 Scourge is an 8.5-inch articulated action figure of the Terrorcons leader, showcasing his junkyard looks in all its weathered glory. Like all the cybernetic aliens in the franchise, it can shapeshift into a vehicle, specifically a semi-truck similar to Optimus Prime, albeit with the same weathered and battered appearance as his robot mode. Seriously, the truck looks like it’s covered in layers of oil and soot, which, oddly enough, ends up making the character a really cool-looking adversary, According to the Hasbro Pulse page, the robot can transform from one mode to another in 31 steps.
The robot comes with a blade weapon that can be put in hand or mounted on the wrist, a detachable blaster and claw hand attachments that can be used in both robot and truck mode. It also comes with a backdrop that showcases the character during a museum attack scene from the upcoming movie.
