Hilton Maldives Lets You Book An Underwater Suite

We’re not sure if you’ve heard about Ithaa, that gorgeous underwater restaurant facility in the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa in Rangali Island. At any rate, this month marks its 5th year anniversary and they did something special with the place: they turned it into a temporary suite.

If you think dining five meters below sea level is awesome, imagine sleeping there. Yep, just like watching a 24-hour ocean special on Discovery Channel, except the TV covers the entire room. No need to count sheep to sleep too, since you’ve got schools of fish swimming that you can use for substitute. We’re not sure what kinds of water creatures they have floating outside the plexiglass casing (I Googled hard and failed), but I do hope they have sharks and weird, fanged ugly fish. That will make it the coolest suite ever.

The 12-seat Ithaa restaurant has been outfitted into a two-person suite, treating well-heeled guests to a 360-degree view of marine life, from the time they wake up in the morning until they retire at night. Accommodations include a private champagne dinner and breakfast in bed. Unfortunately, it doesn’t include pointing at Nemo outside and finding him in your dinner plate fifteen minutes later. Which sucks. But only a little.

Do note that the place supposedly gets so bright during lunch time that restaurant guests and staff have to wear sunglasses. So I guess you can forget sleeping till noon. Still, that sounds like a small price to pay to enjoy this level of luxury.

No clue on pricing for the suite, but if you’ve ever wanted to roleplay Spongebob Squarepants, I can’t imagine a more suitable place.
