Hoek Home Office Desk Assembles And Collapses In 60 Seconds

There’s no shortage of desks you can use to set up a functional home office. Heck, there’s even more options now than ever with the rise of work-from-home setups during the pandemic, making it easier to find a desk that suits your needs perfectly. Problem is, you really don’t know for how long you’re going to be working from home, which makes you hesitant to turn erstwhile valuable space into a full-time home office. If that’s your situation, you might find the Hoek Home Office Desk a lot more suited to your style.

Yes, it’s a flat-packed work desk. Unlike your usual desk from IKEA, though, this thing can be assembled without the use of screws, nails, or any actual tools. Instead, the parts simply snap in place, allowing you to get your workspace ready in just a few seconds, all while collapsing just as quickly for putting away once you’re done for the day.

The Hoek Home Office Desk consists of a plywood tabletop sporting a plastic chassis underneath, with cutout sections that let you to stash all four legs right on the chassis, allowing it to package and ship in flat-packed form. To assemble, simply remove the legs from their storage sections, snap them upright into the slots on each corner of the plastic chassis, and you’ve got a functional table ready to hold your laptop, mousepad, and whatever else you need to do your tasks for the day. For putting away, just do the same things in reverse, removing the legs from the corner slots and fitting them flush at the designated spots in the center. Both assembly and disassembly are done with no tools or fasteners, making the whole process extremely simple and quick. According to the outfit, assembly (and disassembly) can be done in under 60 seconds.

The tabletop comes with curved edges on each end, along with rounded corners, which, we’re guessing, will be much safer if you have a bunch of kids running around at home. And while the collapsible design doesn’t make it as sturdy as conventional work desks, it can still handle weights up to 150 pounds, so as long as you don’t turn it into a bed when you get tired, it should handle most any equipment you’ll need to bring into your home office.

The Hoek Home Office Desk measures 52 x 29 x 24 inches (width x height x depth), so it shouldn’t be that hard to find room in even the most cramped apartments, with the tabletop measuring 60 x 24 inches (width x depth). When collapsed, the whole thing can be easily stashed anywhere with enough room to accommodate the tabletop’s dimensions, such as under the bed, inside the closet, or simply pushed right up the wall to get it out of the way. You can also carry it around, with the whole thing weighing just 35 pounds. Construction is FSC-certified plywood for the tabletop and 100 percent post-consumer HDPE plastic for the legs/chassis. The tabletop comes in six finishes (walnut, birch, gray, black, white, blue), while the plastic comes in three (black, white, stone gray).

The Hoek Home Office Desk is available now, priced at $599.
