Land Rover Defender X-Tech: Classic Looks, Same Dependable Power

Love the boxy, rugged styling of the classic Defender?  Just your luck, the classic design is back in a limited edition series.  Called the Land Rover Defender X-Tech, the new vehicle brings the same toughness in looks and performance, along with all the interior comforts you can ask for from a modern off-roader.

Sporting a blocky front end and a boxy form, the ride is clad in a  Zermatt Silver paint job, with a contrasting Santorini Black finish to the roof and wheel arches.  The rugged appearance is further enhanced by unique 16-inch “sawtooth” alloy wheels in a gloss black finish.

The Land Rover Defender X-Tech brings the same off-road performance as the original Defender, including that vaunted rock-crawling talent.  It’s powered by a 2.4-liter common-rail diesel engine, which boasts 266 pound-feet of torque for effortless towing, along with excellent fuel efficiency.

Interior is available in ebony, with leather seats and side bolsters to keep you comfortable in the cabin.  The vehicle comes in both three- and five-door varieties, including the 90 Hard Top Commercial derivative.

Unfortunately for US off-roaders, the Land Rover Defender X-Tech Limited Edition is scheduled for release strictly in Europe.  It goes on sale beginning March, priced at £24,995 (around $40,000).
