Luminoodle Puts Bright LEDs On A 5-Foot Rope For Versatile Lighting Applications

luminoodle-1

Yes, it’s looks nothing more than non-blinking Christmas lights, but the Luminoodle should prove more functional than the holiday decorating staple. With up to 20 times more brightness than your average Christmas light, these “string lights” should enable a whole load of illuminative applications.

Because it comes in the form of five-foot long strings, the light can be equipped in a variety of ways that just isn’t possible with regular lamps, lanterns, and work lights. You can, for instance, hang it up a beam, string it across a series of hooks, and even bundle it to make a concentrated glow, giving you plenty of options to achieve the exact lighting condition you require.

The Luminoodle consists of a lighted cable measuring five feet, with an integrated foot-long USB cable attached at one end. It comes with 26 7-lumen LEDs spread across the lighted area, so this should deliver functional illumination whether you need outdoor lighting at camp, visibility lighting during nighttime bike rides, or a good amount of light to work on the car at night. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have an integrated battery, so you’ll have to plug it into a power source (e.g. like a small power bank) throughout the entire time of use. For mounting, it comes with three moldable tie hooks, three integrated magnets (one on either end, plus a sliding one), and a loop at one end for easy hanging onto a hook. It’s waterproof up to three feet, too, so you don’t have to worry when using it as lighting during night-swimming at the backyard pool.

A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for the Luminoodle. Pledges to reserve a unit starts at $19.
