LYFE Planter Sends Your Plants Dancing In Mid-Air

If you’re going to go through the trouble of taking care of an indoor plant, it might as well be one that can amuse you for hours on end. Problem is, how can a simple houseplant hold your attention for more than a couple minutes unless it’s a baby Groot that sings and dances? While it won’t quite make your little plant sing, the LYFE Planter can definitely make it dance while floating in mid-air.

Similar to the Air Bonsai, it’s a planter for air plants that uses magnetic levitation tech to hover in mid-air, sending whatever you have growing in the pot into a perpetual spinning motion. And, yes, it looks absolutely hypnotic while doing that, ensuring staring at the darn thing all on its own can make for quite an entertaining time.

Like all mag-lev systems, the LYFE Planter comes with a base housing the electromagnetic hardware, which comes covered up in an erstwhile nondescript wood case. The actual planter comes in a 12-sided geodesic shape that makes for a stunning aesthetic, too, so this thing will draw attention even without a plant growing inside it.  A built-in drainage system ensures any excess water won’t simply gather inside the pot, while a hidden reservoir collects the water for later disposal.

The base measures 6 x 6 x 1.5 inches, while the planter sizes up at 2.4 x 3.9 inches, so it’s small enough to easily find space for, whether on a desk or by a window. Construction is silicone for the pot and oak for the base.

A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for the LYFE Planter. Pledges to reserve a unit starts at $199.
