Ever had stuff stolen from your backpack while you were wearing it in a crowded part of the city? It doesn’t happen all that often, but when it happens to you, it can be all manners of annoying. Depending on what gets stolen, it could be wallet-breaking, too. The RiutBag is designed to keep that from ever happening.
No, the bag doesn’t employ state-of-the-art digital security or highly-reinforced closures to protect its contents. Instead, it does that using a simple but clever design that makes all the zippers accessible only from the back. That way, no one behind you can simply reach out and unzip the pack, making it terribly difficult for even the sneakiest pickpockets to pry an expensive camera, a laptop, or some other pricey equipment out of your stash.
Every single one of the RiutBag’s zippers is designed to face your back while it’s strapped around your shoulders, making it look like a weird sack with no openings from behind you. It doesn’t exactly make it easier to get stuff from the bag while you’re wearing it, but you should feel more secure that every single piece of gear you have inside will stay there as you make your way from one place to the next.
It comes in two versions: the 10-liter R10 and the 15-liter R15. The former is a carry-on-sized laptop bag, with space to hold a 15-inch notebook, multiple interior pockets (including one that holds A4-sized stationery), and hidden strap pockets, while the latter features a 15-inch laptop sleeve, two bottle holders, multiple interior pockets, and water-resistant materials.
A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for the RiutBag. Pledges to reserve a unit starts at £65.
