Satechi’s New iMac Stand Doubles As An Easy-Access USB Hub

We’re big fans of Satechi’s Type-C Clamp Hub, which lets you put a gaggle of ports right in front of your iMac, saving you from having to reach around the back just to plug in your peripherals. It’s great. If, however, you like using your iMac with a stand, then you might opt for the Satechi Type-C Aluminum Monitor Stand Hub instead.

That’s right, Satechi has a new iMac hub and it doubles as a stand, allowing you to elevate your all-in-one computer to give you a higher viewing angle. It also frees up a whole lot of space under the stand, allowing your iMac to take up less desk space and giving you more room for the rest of your office supplies. Seriously, that tight space under the stand should allow you to store cables, earbuds, stationeries, and a whole bunch of other stuff that would otherwise get strewn all over your desk.

The Satechi Type-C Aluminum Monitor Stand Hub is a non-adjustable stand that raises the iMac an additional 1.6 inches. Yes, that doesn’t sound like much, but the outfit claims it’s enough to provide a more optimal viewing height that will help reduce neck strain and encourage better posture. More importantly, it does that while giving you easy access to a roster of ports right on the computer’s foot, so you can plug in your peripherals and accessories in a more convenient manner. And yes, it does complement the iMac’s appearance, coming in a minimalist design with unibody construction in either silver or space gray colors.

It comes with one USB-C slot, three USB 3.0 ports, a 3.5mm jack, and a memory card slot, which should be plenty enough to support most standard working setups. In case you need more slots, you can also pair it with the outfit’s Clamp Hub or some of the other USB hubs out there, in case you’re one of those folks who. Oh yeah, it connects to the USB-C slot on the iMac, so it should work out of the box with all the newer models, although they also threw in a USB-A adapter, in case you’re still using an older model that doesn’t have that port.

The Satechi Type-C Aluminum Monitor Stand Hub has a maximum loading weight of 50 pounds, so it should handle your current all-in-one Apple PC and any future iterations without any trouble. Unless, you know, Apple decides to release a heavyweight iMac for any reason whatsoever. Oh yeah, while this is aimed at iMac users, we imagine it should work with most any other machine, too, since it’s, basically, just a USB hub like the one you currently have on your computer. In case you buy one and decide the elevated height isn’t optimal for you, there’s always the option of using it like a regular UBS hub that you can set down right beside the iMac’s foot.
