Skizee Speeds Up Your Cross-Country Skiing

Want to speed up your cross-country skiing without working yourself into a tired mess?  If  Snow Van does not sound like a good idea to you, then you might be a perfect candidate for Skizee, a motorized tread that pushes skiers across even terrain.

Created by Inventive Minds Inc., the contraption gives flat-land skiers the same effortless pull of gravity that folks get to enjoy in more mountainous locales.    Even better, since there’s no chance of tumbling downhill after hitting a rock, you get all the fun with none of the risks.  And you don’t even have to travel to enjoy it.

The Skizee consists of snow treads powered by a 10.5-hp Briggs and Stratton Kart racing engine.  When set loose on icy ground, it blazes through the snow like a mini-snowmobile.   The attached handle (when an electric start button is installed) lets you lead it around, while it sends you speeding from behind.

During transport, you can fold down the handles, allowing it to fit in a regular car’s trunk.  Granted, it doesn’t look like the sleekest way to carve through snow, but it sure looks a hell of a lot of fun.

According to Inventive Minds, the Skizee was originally designed as motorized aide for use by ski patrols, so it’s built for rugged use.  It’s not yet available for ordering, but should retail for $2,500 soon.
