Tack Brings Versatile Elegance To The Humble Task Light

There’s no shortage of versatile work lights that you can use both in and out of the house. The Tack light, though, does things elegantly, making it just as suited for office use as it is in the garage.

A bar-type lamp, it measures just 9 x 2.4 x 2.8 inches (w x h x d), making it easy to move around the house as well as squeeze into a bag for use elsewhere. Whether you need extra lighting for your desk at work, a task light for doing repairs under the sink, or an emergency lamp when the lights go out in the attic, this thing should do the trick.

Tack comes with a magnetic mounting board with 3M command adhesive backing that you can place on any surface (walls, cubicles, table edges) for easily snapping the lighting unit on and off. The adhesive backing should be reusable, so you can reposition it multiple times, although you can always just use fresh tape once the adhesive wears off. When removed from the mount, it can function as a desk lamp that you can set down either vertically or horizontally, depending on your lighting needs.

A touch control panel on one end allows you to switch the light on and off with a tap. You can also tap and hold to adjust the level of illumination, with a maximum brightness of 1,200 lumens making it reasonably bright. It automatically remembers the last brightness level, too, so you switch on to your regular settings every time. Housing is constructed from aluminum, steel, and HDPE, with an included fabric-braided 6-foot cable for plugging into an outlet.

A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for Tack. Pledges to reserve a unit starts at $50.
