It’s a good time to be a pirate. Well, at least, to be a fan of fictional pirate ships. It wasn’t long ago that LEGO released the Going Merry pirate ship from One Piece. This time around, we’re getting one of the most iconic ones from film in the form of the LEGO Icons Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Ship.
A buildable model of the Black Pearl from Pirates of the Caribbean, the new set is bigger and more detailed than LEGO’s Black Pearl release from 2011, making it a worthy upgrade even if you already own that older model. Whether you’re a LEGO collector, a Pirates of the Caribbean fan, or just some dude who loves his pirate ships, this model will definitely make for a fun addition to your collection.
The LEGO Icons Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Ship is a detailed model of the gorgeous Black Pearl from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, allowing you to build your own version of the “nigh uncatchable” galleon. Like many of the outfit’s more premium models aimed at adults, this one’s massive in size, ensuring it will instantly draw attention whether you display it on a living room shelf or as part of a high seas diorama with a bunch of other sailing vessels.
It recreates all the main elements of the fictional pirate ship, from its blackout hull and black sails to its long bow and soaring masts, complete with a Jolly Roger flag swaying at the vessel’s highest point. There are rotating dials that let you deploy cannons on the port and the starboard, ensuring your ship can be ready for battle at a moment’s notice. The bottom section of the hull, by the way, can be removed, in case you want to display it as if it was submerged in water, which is a really nice touch.
The LEGO Icons Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Ship has a functional wheel that actually turns the rudder, allowing your minifigs to steer it while sailing, as well as several explorable interiors, including a gun deck and a captain’s quarters with full furnishings and accessories. There’s also a detachable rowboat, in case your swashbuckling minifigs ever need to paddle their way to shore. It comes with a stand, too, allowing you to show off the ghost galleon in all its blackout glory.
As we said earlier, this thing is massive, measuring a whopping 25.5 x 25 x 9 inches (height x length x width) when assembled, ensuring this thing will make a substantial presence anywhere you decide to display it. Add to that the striking blackout visual and it should make for an absolutely enthralling sight. A total of 2,862 pieces are included in the set, so this should make for a challenging but fun build. Those pieces include minifigures of characters from the films, namely Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Gibbs, Cotton, Anamaria, Marty, Elizabeth Swann, and Hector Barbossa. That’s right, you can totally recreate your favorite scenes from the films, complete with the same characters.
