Soundcore Spaceflow Brings Projection Mapping to the Outfit’s Nebula X1 Projectors

Last year, Soundcore added two of the biggest portable projectors to their line up in the form of the Nebula X1 and the Nebula X1 Pro. Both delivered high-enough brightness levels that they perform pretty spectacularly for outdoor viewing, allowing you to use it in the backyard, at the tailgate, and even at the campsite, provided you have a high-output power source to plug into. The Soundcore Spaceflow is an accessory for those projectors that turn them into capable projection mapping devices.

That’s right, you can now use your Nebula 4K projector for projection mapping, allowing you to beam large-scale architectural displays right onto houses, stores, and similar smaller structures. Even better, it does that without all the days-long, time-consuming work entailed by other solutions, allowing you to get a proper projection display mapped in place in as little time as 10 minutes.

The Soundcore Spaceflow is a small accessory that looks a lot like the Microsoft Kinect from several years ago. It’s fitted with dual cameras, a time-of-flight sensor, and a structured light emitter, the combination of which allows it to scan the area in front and develop a 3D model. Using that 3D model, it can then automatically create a map of whatever items you want to project all on its own. That’s right, you don’t need to learn any software, perform precise measurements, or get your head around any new tech. Instead, you simply plug it into the projector, place it on top, and launch the companion app.

You don’t need to put together a design of what you want to project, either. Instead, you can simply use one of the 100-plus ready-made templates custom-themed for different holidays and occasions (e.g. Halloween, Christmas, and everything else), which the app will take care of customizing to fit perfectly into the 3D structure. Want something they don’t offer in the selection of templates? Not a problem, either.

The Soundcore Spaceflow’s companion app also has an integrated generative AI system that can generate any design you can imagine. Simply describe what you’d like to see on the 3D surface it just scanned and it can generate everything all on its own, customizing everything so it blends seamlessly with the 3D surface’s shapes and textures. Only real catch is the AI element comes as a subscription, so you’ll have to pay extra for certain numbers of generations every month. If you don’t want to pay the monthly charge, you can just use the masking feature, which, basically, superimposes images onto the scanned surface without any of the AI customizations.

The 3D projections are not all visuals, either, as it can also generate sounds to accompany the imagery. That means, this is a fully-immersive solution that can take your Halloween, Christmas, or Fourth of July decorating to another level. According to the outfit, it works best outdoors , as the projection quality may not work as well indoors, though we’re not entirely sure why that is.
