Looks Almost Formal: Jordan V.9 Grown Comes In Patent Leather Upper

It was a good idea at the time: wearing your leather Jordans to the prom.  Sure, you had a rented tux on, but leather shoes are leather shoes, even if they had red accents and yellow soles.  Let’s just say you look back at that memory with regret.  Today’s high school sneakerheads should have it a little better with this new Jordan V.9 Grown model.

Decked in a shiny patent leather upper, it’s the closest you can come to wearing real sneakers that could pass off as formal shoes.  While the gum sole sort of destroys the illusion a bit, it’s still plenty serviceable.  Maybe blackening it out with your JGoods Customization Kit could do the trick.

While we doubt these Jordan V.9 Growns will be enough to trick your fiancé into letting you wed her on sneakers, it could be sweet enough to pass off with your regular slacks and tie ensemble for work.   Or when attending someone else’s wedding.

The patent leather material works really well with the shoes’ clean lines, so it’s a heck of a good-looking pair of kicks for casual use, too (reminds me of Doc Martens, actually).  While it’s probably not perfect for a pick up game at the court, it should do if you have no other footwear available.

The new Jordan V.9 Grown will drop in stores starting October, priced at $90.
