Satechi Type-C Clamp Hub Pro Puts Ports On The Front Of Your iMac

Unlike the MacBook, all the new iMac models still come with a full selection of ports. Problem is, they’re all situated in the back, making it impossible to stay sitting on your chair while plugging in a peripheral or loading up an SD card. The Satechi Type-C Clamp Hub Pro changes that.

Designed for the 2017 iMac Pro, the iMac Retina 4K, and the 27-inch iMac 5K models, the device plugs into a USB-C slot (Thunderbolt 3) on the back of the computer, putting a bevy of ports and slots within easy reach at all times.  That way, you don’t have to get up every time you need to hook up anything to the computer, making your workday flow a whole lot smoother.

Once set up, the Satechi Type-C Clamp Hub Pro puts a USB-C port, three USB 3.0 slots, and an SD card reader at the bottom of the monitor, allowing you to plug in your drawing tablet, insert a microSD card, and even charge a USB-C gadget without getting up from your chair. It’s plug-and-play, so once you plug in and mount the hub, the whole thing should work like a charm. Construction is brushed aluminum in either a space gray or silver finish, with the whole thing measuring 4.6 x 1.3 x 0.4 inches.

We don’t actually have any idea how it’s supposed to mount on the underside of the display, but, according to the product page, you merely have to turn the knob sitting along the back end of the accessory to tighten its hold. And, yes, it’s supposed to come off when you turn it the other way.
