It was five years ago when Lamborghini first unveiled a luxury performance SUV called the Urus. And, well, it had people pretty excited. Until, of course, half a decade passed and nothing followed the concept reveal. That changes now with the official announcement of the 2019 Lamborghini Urus.

That’s right, the marque behind some of the fastest supercars in history is coming out with an actual SUV, so you can experience the same intense supercar performance while driving with the entire family. And just like its two-door brethren, the darn thing is designed to stand out with dramatic lines, intense contours, and a downright brash personality. It also looks a lot like the original concept, which we though was going to be scrapped simply because of how long it took to actually come out of limbo.

The 2019 Lamborghini Urus houses a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V8 under the hood, where it produces 641 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. Mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, that’s enough to send the vehicle shooting from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, all while hitting top speeds of 189.5 mph. Yep, this is one fast SUV. Massive 17.3-inch carbon-ceramic rotors with 10-piston calipers provide stopping power out front, while the same thing is handled by 14.6-inch discs with four-piston calipers in the rear. The outfit claims the vehicle’s carbon ceramic brakes offers the best braking performance in the SUV segment.

It comes with six different drive modes, which takes the four regular drive modes in other Lambos, then reinforces it with off-road and sand, both of which the car is expected to be able to handle. Not that we would recommend taking this expensive car to your next backcountry adventure. According to the outfit, choosing the off-road modes raise the suspension to provide greater ground clearance, making this thing suitable for the unpaved grounds of your next glamping adventure.

Inside, the 2019 Lamborghini Urus offers seating for five, allowing you to take the family out on a Raging Bull just like affluent dads did back when the Rambo Lambo was a thing. Out front, the center console comes filled with all sortd of buttons – a deliberate design choice to give it an aeronautic flair. It also gets three TFT displays: one for instruments, one for the infotainment system, and another serving as a virtual keyboard for control. The interior, by the way, can be customized with your choice of natural leather, Alcantara, wood, aluminum, or carbon, so you can equip it to be as luxurious as you’d like.

It comes with Level 2 diving assistance, which allows the vehicle to provide steering and braking inputs at low and moderate speeds, so there’s some amount of self-driving tech in there to keep up with the times. Other features include active roll control, a torque vectoring rear differential, adaptive air suspension, and a 1700-watt 21-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
