Special Chair For Fat People: No Go For Sao Paulo Train Stations

I’ve never been to Brazil, so I can’t confirm.  A news report, however, says the city of Sao Paulo has installed special chairs in the city’s train stations to accommodate fat people, who can’t fit in the otherwise slim-size seating panels in the waiting areas.  As it turns out, there’s a soaring obesity rate in the country and the chairs are a response to the increasing number of “big” individuals.
Awesome, right?  Apparently not.  According to the same report, the seats are being ignored by hefty passengers, who feel slighted at the idea.  Of course, announcements in the train stations saying that the blue-colored seats are “Priority Chairs For Obese People” (in Portuguese, of course) probably encouraged that.

Recycled Barrel Chairs Make The Perfect Garage Loungers

Got a few 50-gallon oil barrels littered in your backyard? Do what these guys did – shape it into usable seats, add some upholstered cushions, bring it to a gallery (for art cred) and sell it for north of $400 apiece.
Laden with humble beginnings as containers for oil and other liquefied products, both the Butaca Bidon (pictured above) and the Silla Bidon (below) have been fashioned into functional lounge seats, with affluent-sounding European names to boot. The former retains a good chunk of the frame, using the cylindrical drum base as the actual foot of the chair, with seat and backrest cushions added for comfort. The latter, on the other hand, uses one end of the drum to provide the chair shape, plops a thick seat cushion and adds metal legs as base.

L@p Chair: The Laptop Lounger

Looking for a lounge chair your guests can actually work in?  Try the unusually-sculptured L@p Chair, an eyecatching single-seater that comes with sweeping lines and a utilitarian desk for hoisting laptops onto.
Shaped like a quote (or maybe an apostrophe), it comes as a single unified piece, with a comfortable backrest and ample tablespace along the left hand side.  It actually looks like it was based off of those classroom chairs with an attached armrest and a table.  Ergonomically, it appears a tad suspicious, looking like it’s bound to give you an uncomfortable time, though I’ll reserve my judgment till I actually sit in one.
